Terms & Conditions
Effective 29 October 2026
1. Our agreement
These terms apply to IT support and consultation provided by Likewise (“I”, “me”). I’ll make them available before you agree to the work. Any specific scope or quote we agree in writing forms part of our agreement.
You must own, or have permission to authorise work on, the devices, accounts and systems involved.
2. Services
We’ll agree on the work before it starts. I’ll seek your approval before additional chargeable work or purchases.
I’ll provide services with reasonable care and skill. Where a result is uncertain, such as recovering files or repairing an intermittent fault, I’ll explain this before proceeding.
3. Rates and minimum charges
All prices are in New Zealand dollars. Likewise is not GST-registered, so no GST is charged.
Home users: $20 per 15 minutes, with a one-hour minimum of $80. Business users: $30 per 15 minutes, with a one-hour minimum of $120.
The minimum applies to each appointment unless agreed otherwise beforehand. After the first hour, time is charged in 15-minute blocks. Standard rates apply to evenings and weekends, with no after-hours surcharge.
Parts, hardware, software and subscriptions are additional and require your approval.
4. Travel
Travel is free within 10km of my base in Paremoremo, Albany.
For longer visits, travel is charged at $1.50 per kilometre only for the portion of the total return journey beyond 20km. For example, a 30km return journey has a $15 travel charge.
Travel charges apply automatically to in-person bookings under this policy. They are disclosed on the website and are not separately confirmed before each visit.
Remote appointments have no travel charge.
5. Estimates and diagnosis
An estimate indicates the likely cost rather than a fixed quote. If the expected cost of the work changes materially, I’ll discuss this with you before continuing.
Diagnosis and troubleshooting are chargeable, even if you decide not to proceed with a repair. This does not affect your rights where my services fail to meet legal guarantees.
6. Bookings and cancellations
Support is generally available Monday to Friday, approximately 6:30pm–10pm, with weekends by request.
Please let me know promptly if you need to cancel or reschedule. Any cancellation or missed-appointment fee must be disclosed and agreed before booking.
If I need to change an appointment, I’ll contact you promptly to arrange another suitable time.
7. Backups and your information
Please maintain a current backup of important files and tell me about critical data before work begins. Backup assistance can be included in the agreed work.
I’ll discuss foreseeable risks before work that could erase or affect your data, such as reinstalling an operating system or replacing a drive, and obtain your approval.
This does not remove my obligation to use reasonable care and skill or your rights under New Zealand law.
8. Access and remote support
Please provide the access, licences, equipment and internet connection reasonably needed for the agreed work.
Remote appointments take place through Microsoft Teams. Screen sharing or remote-control access requires your permission and can be ended at any time. Ongoing monitoring or unattended access requires a separate agreement.
Where possible, enter passwords yourself rather than sending them to me.
9. Privacy and confidentiality
I’ll treat information accessed during support as confidential and use it only to provide the agreed services, administer bookings and invoices, or meet legal obligations.
I’ll request permission before copying your files or sharing information with another service provider, unless disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Booking, meeting and website enquiry information is also handled through Microsoft services under their applicable privacy terms. Enquiry contact details and messages are used to respond to your request. You may request access to, or correction of, personal information I hold about you.
10. Hardware and third-party services
Hardware must be paid in full before delivery. For larger or more expensive items, payment is required before Likewise purchases them, or you can purchase the item directly yourself.
Software, subscriptions, cloud services and hardware may have their own licence terms, charges and warranties. I’ll explain relevant costs before you approve a purchase.
I cannot control third-party outages or changes, but remain responsible for the services and goods I supply and any obligations imposed by law.
11. Payment
I’ll issue an invoice after support work is completed. Payment is due within 14 days of receiving the invoice, by cash or bank transfer.
Hardware must be paid in full before delivery. For larger or more expensive items, payment is required before Likewise purchases them, or you can purchase the item directly yourself.
Please raise invoice concerns promptly so we can work through them.
12. Problems with the work
If you believe something is wrong with my work or goods I have supplied, contact me using the details on your invoice. I’ll discuss the issue with you and arrange an appropriate remedy where required.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or remedies under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986, or other applicable law. These terms do not contract business customers out of the Consumer Guarantees Act.
13. Changes and governing law
Changes apply to future work. Existing bookings remain subject to the terms agreed when booked, unless we both agree otherwise.
New Zealand law applies. We’ll first try to resolve disputes directly. This does not prevent either party from using the Disputes Tribunal or another appropriate legal process.
